Mark S. Talbert, MD
A country boy from West Virginia and the first in his high school to attend medical school, Dr. Talbert has cared for Brevard County since 2008. In 2018 he opened a solo practice, the freedom to practice surgery with skill and passion, without the limits of a large health plan.
He trained at Marshall University School of Medicine and completed his General Surgery residency at East Tennessee State University. He served as Chief of General Surgery at Mountain Home VA Medical Center and spent 15 years as a Trauma Surgeon in the U.S. Army Reserves, deployed to Kosovo and Afghanistan caring for the battle-wounded.
What to expect
A surgical consultation does not mean surgery has already been decided. It means your problem deserves a careful surgical opinion.
Consultation
Dr. Talbert reviews your actual imaging, pathology, and reports, then talks through your history and symptoms in person. Any testing that is needed helps confirm the diagnosis and whether an operation is truly warranted.
Procedure
If surgery is the right step, he explains why it is recommended, what the operation is meant to accomplish, and exactly what comes next. Wherever possible, minimally invasive techniques are used to reduce pain and speed your recovery.
Post-Op Recovery
Attentive follow-up supports a smooth, well-managed recovery. Dr. Talbert checks your healing, answers your questions, and guides you back to normal activity with clear instructions at every step of the way.
Observational Follow-Up
If an operation is not required, Dr. Talbert monitors your condition over time and re-evaluates only if something changes. You leave with a clear plan, honest guidance, and a direct line back to the office if anything develops.
You, your family, and your referring physician leave with a clear understanding of the situation.
