Disorders We Treat

Gallbladder Disease

Pain after meals, nausea, or a gallstone finding, when the gallbladder is the source of the trouble, Dr. Talbert helps you understand it and, when needed, resolves it for good.

Understanding The Diagnosis

When the gallbladder becomes the problem

The gallbladder is a small organ that stores bile to help digest fat. When gallstones form or it stops working the way it should, it can cause pain after meals, nausea, bloating, and repeated attacks that are hard to ignore.

Some gallbladder problems come from stones you can see on an ultrasound. Others, like biliary dyskinesia, cause the same symptoms even when no stones are present, and need different testing to confirm.

Dr. Talbert reviews your symptoms, imaging, and test results before recommending treatment. When the gallbladder is the source of the trouble, removing it usually resolves the problem for good, and can often be done laparoscopically for a faster recovery.

Gallstones can cause pain in the upper right abdomen, pain after eating fatty meals, nausea, vomiting, bloating, or pain that travels to the back or right shoulder. Some people have gallstones without any symptoms at all.

Surgery may be recommended when gallstones cause pain, inflammation, infection, or blockage. Gallbladder removal is commonly performed laparoscopically when appropriate.

Yes. Some patients have gallbladder symptoms even when imaging does not show stones. In these cases, additional testing can evaluate how well the gallbladder is working, and surgery may still help.
