A Spigelian hernia forms through a weakness in the abdominal wall along the side of the abdomen, near the outer edge of the rectus muscle. It can develop between layers of muscle and may not always create a clear bulge.
Because they can be harder to diagnose, imaging is sometimes needed. Dr. Talbert evaluates the area and recommends repair to close the weakness and reduce the risk of complications.
