Two decades of trusted surgical care

Dr. Mark S. Talbert has provided surgical care in Brevard County since 2008. He first joined Melbourne Internal Medical Associates (MIMA), which later became part of Health First, before opening his own practice in 2018, the freedom to practice surgery with skill and passion, without the limits of a large health plan. The result is a reputation for superb outcomes and a genuinely relatable, down-to-earth approach.

He is, in the truest sense, the doctor’s surgeon, physicians not only refer their patients to him, they come to him when they or their own families need surgical expertise.

Training & service

A country boy from West Virginia, Dr. Talbert grew up in the outdoors and was the first in his high school to attend medical school. He earned his medical degree at Marshall University School of Medicine, completed his General Surgery residency at East Tennessee State University, and served as Chief of General Surgery at the Mountain Home VA Medical Center, caring for our nation’s veterans. For 15 years he also served as a Trauma Surgeon in the United States Army Reserves, deployed to Kosovo and Afghanistan to care for the battle-wounded.

Close to home

Dr. Talbert lives in Indialantic with his wife, Dr. Ana Restrepo, and their two sons, Lucas and Gabriel. Away from the operating room he is an avid hunter and pickleball player, plays bass guitar in a couple of local bands, and serves in the music ministry at Calvary Chapel Melbourne.
